Quin Snyder has stepped down as the Utah Jazz's head coach, but that doesn't mean he won't stay in coaching.
Chris Mannix stated that the 55 year old remained eager to coach. Mannix said that the Jazz's owner felt that it was time for a change.
In a statement, he said he left the Jazz because he felt the team needed a new leader.
Michael Scotto @MikeAScottoQuin Snyder: “I strongly feel they need a new voice to continue to evolve. That’s it. No philosophical differences, no other reason. After 8 years, I just feel it is time to move onward. I needed to take time to detach after the season and make sure this was the right decision.” pic.twitter.com/CRd277ttX8
According to Utah's announcement, the franchise's head coach is leaving. Two years were left on his contract.
In the regular season, he has a record of 372-264, making him the second winningest coach in Jazz history. The Utah team finished first in the Northwest Division for the second year in a row.
The Jazz made the playoffs for six years in a row, but didn't make it past the Western Conference semifinals. Utah lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.
The interest from teams looking for a change will likely come from a well-respected coach like Snyder. The Los Angeles Lakers were interested in him a few months ago.
