Los Angeles Lakers jersey worn by Kobe Bryant in rookie season sells at auction for $2.73 million

The Los Angeles Lakers jersey worn by Kobe Bryant in his first season sold for over $2 million.

The buyer and seller wanted to remain anonymous, according to the auction house. The jersey from the 1996-97 season was estimated to sell for between $3 million and $5 million.

One of Bryant's jerseys went for over four million dollars. The highest price for a basketball jersey has ever been achieved.

Bryant wore the No. 8 jersey for the Lakers in two regular-season games in 1997 at the old Forum. Kohler said that the jersey was verified by independent authenticators.

Bryant and seven other people were killed in a helicopter crash in California on January 26, 2020.
