Recent confirmed promotions, relegations, titles & qualifications

Premier League

Manchester City came from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 on the final day - ensuring they finished one point above Liverpool

On the last day of the season, Manchester City won the title with a 3-2 victory over Villa and will be joined in the group stage by other teams.

The European places from the FA Cup final and Carabao Cup final will be returned to the league.

The top six teams in the league qualify for the group stage of the European competition.

Three teams have been demoted to the Championship. On April 30th, they lost 2-0 at Villa and on May 7th, they lost 1-0 at Palace. On the last day of the season, the last team to be demoted was Burnley.

On 19 April, the Cottagers secured their place in the top flight with a win over Preston, and they won the title with a game to spare on May 2nd. On 3 May, Bournemouth made sure of the second automatic promotion place with a win overNottingham Forest, who were promoted on 29 May.

There are three teams that are going to League One. On 18 April, Derby County was demoted after a loss at Queens Park Rangers and four days later, Barnsley were also demoted. The club became the third to be demoted after a loss at home to Forest.

League One

On the final day of the season, Wigan Athletic won the League One title with a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury, while Rotherham United secured the second automatic promotion place with a win at Gillingham. The play-off final took place on May 21st.

League Two has the four teams that were demoted to it. They were the first club to be demoted when they were beaten 2-0 by Doncaster. The other three clubs did not know they were going down until the last day of the season.

League Two

Forest Green Rovers were promoted to League One on the same day as Exeter City were promoted after beating Barrow. Forest Green made sure of the title by drawing 2-2 at Mansfield on the final day of the season, when Bristol Rovers secured the third and final automatic promotion place. The Port Vale played in the play-off final and won.

Two teams will be demoted. On April 15th, when they lost to Orient, and on April 23rd, when they lost to Salford, they became the second and third teams to be demoted from the Football League this season.

National League

On the last day of the season, Stockport County beat Halifax 2-0 to be promoted to League Two. The second promotion place went to Grimsby Town after they beat the Moors in the play-offs.

The bottom three teams are demoted. It was the first club from England's major leagues to be demoted after a 2-0 defeat by Yeovil on March 19th. They were joined by King's Lynn Town after they had a 3-3 draw with Eastleigh.

The winners of the North and South divisions will return to the National League. On 30 April, Maidstone United secured the South title, and on 2 May, Gateshead secured the North title. The play-offs were held on 21 May.

Scottish Premiership

The Russian clubs' ban from Uefa's 2022-23 competitions will not affect Celtic's participation in the group stage.

The runners-up will enter the competition. The play-off round of the Europa League will be for third-place Hearts because they won the Scottish Cup.

Motherwell will enter at the second qualifying round in order to get into the third qualification round.

It was confirmed on 11 May that the bottom club of the Scottish Championship would be demoted to the second tier.

Scottish Championship

Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes clinched the title with one game to spare

After beating Arbroath, Kilmarnock were promoted to the Scottish Championship. They are the only side promoted after the play-offs.

Queen of the South was demoted to Scottish League One. After losing to Queen's Park in the play-off semi-finals, Dunfermline Athletic were demoted to the second tier of English football.

Scottish League One

Cove Rangers were promoted to the Scottish Championship after defeating Dumbarton in the League One title match.

East Fife was demoted to Scottish League Two after a loss to Falkirk. Dumbarton lost to Edinburgh City in the semi-finals of the play-offs and were subsequently demoted.

Scottish League Two

Kelty were the first team in Scotland or England's top leagues to clinch promotion

Edinburgh City were promoted to Scottish League One on May 13th after defeating Annan Athletic in the play-off final.

Cowdenbeath was demoted to the Lowland League after losing a play-off to Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic.
