Richard Nixon would not have thought that former President Donald Trump would try to overturn the election.

The two reporters who uncovered the Watergate scandal wrote in The Washington Post that they thought Nixon defined corruption when he was in office.

The DNC headquarters was broken into in 1972 by the Nixon administration. Nixon resigned in 1974 after the administration tried to cover up its involvement.

Nixon's conduct was exposed by the news media, the Senate Watergate Committee, special prosecutors, and the Supreme Court, according to Woodward and Bernstein.

The only resignation of a president in American history was forced by these instruments of American democracy.

According to Woodward and Bernstein, Trump's "diabolical instincts exploited a weakness in the law"

In a deception that exceeded even Nixon's imagination, Trump and a group of lawyers, loyalists and White House aides devised a strategy to bombard the country with false assertions that the 2020 election was rigged and that Trump had really won.

In the weeks leading up to the certification, Trump and his allies continued to claim that he lost the election due to rigging.

Trump persistently claimed that he was the victor. He spoke at the Ellipse on January 6. We won in a big way. It was a big deal. On January 6th, he publicly and relentlessly pressured him to make him the winner.

The Capitol was occupied by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021. The first seditious president was Trump.
