Kimi has a full time job.

She works a 9-to-5 job in marketing. She stated in a March TikTok that she was considering her full-time job and life to be her full-time job.

When she heard about the TikTok trend, Kaneshina was worried about her health. She saw people quitting and decided to post about it. 300,000 people watched her video

27% of the workforce will be made up of Gen Z by the year 2025. They're leading the way in the Great Resignation because they're unhappy with their job. They believe that work can be done in the time it takes, leaving plenty of room for life.

Other generations are jealous of Gen Zers who are closing their laptops, moving abroad, and treating their personal lives as full-time jobs.

Older generations were expected to adhere to 'pretty unhealthy ways of work'

Sara Stewart, a 49-year-old Gen Xer, left her job in New York seven years ago to work from home. She said that her generation, roughly ages 42 to 57, as well as the younger generation, 26 to 41, were expected to adhere to some pretty unhealthy ways of work.

She felt like she wouldn't be doing her job if she went to the gym for an hour during the day.

She wanted to explore a better work life structure.

She said she didn't see any "concrete pushback" on work boundaries until she read about how Gen Zers were taking mental-health days and giving up their jobs. Stewart was jealous of the Gen Z ethos of work because she admired it so much.

She heard from people her age and older that they wish they'd spoken up against traditional expectations of work and that it was a positive development.

One such worker is Cayne Letizia.

He said that many of the expectations for his generation were to go to school, go to college and have a family.

He has noticed that the students he has taught in the past few years have changed. They look for jobs that fit their interests after graduating from college.

He would have liked to have done more when he was younger. He said that he saw them doing it and wanted to support it.

White-collar so-called knowledge workers who don't need much more than a computer to get through the workday are often the ones who debate the issue. For the past year, low-wage workers have been quitting at near-record rates and pushing back on the norm of work in protest. Staffing problems have arisen due to that.

Benefits like student-loan repayment and mental-health support could be offered to blue-collar workers in order to alleviate some of the shortages.

The responses haven't all been positive

A young man stands in front of a palm tree in a TikTok with over 50,000 likes. "When the boomers get mad that I can work from paradise, I have unlimited leave, my boss doesn't micromanage me, they prioritize our mental health, our leadership actually cares about us, I work from home, and they pay for our Spotify/" is the text on the

Monday said that he came into the workforce with the idea that he was going to be grinding forever until he died. I realized that it doesn't have to be that way after I worked.

Monday said she has dealt with criticism from Gen Xers and boomers. She's heard the word a lot.

In the heyday of the girlboss and Silicon Valley prodigy worship, that may have been the case for the young people. They were blamed for ruining their own economy.

Letizia thinks the young people got a bad reputation. It was always, like, 'Oh, these young people!' He said that the conversation has changed with Gen Zers who are taking a stand.

Stewart said she has a text thread with some of her friends where they complain about the freedom and flexibility Gen Z kids have.

Stewart said that while they were talking about stuff, they were bringing it into the workplace.

Older workers can join in as well.

We have gotten used to working being your life in America. "You work all day, you eat, and you sleep, and then you do it all over again, five days a week."

She wants more people of all ages to realize that it's not how most of the world does it, and that it might not bring them the most joy.

"Older generations, if they could wrap their minds around it, they would be able to be a lot more fulfilled and be able to have hobbies and do different things." Every generation deserves a good work life balance and my hope is for them to take part in that someday.
