There is a new property by the name ofHilton. As standard room award availability has now been loaded, I wanted to post an update on this.
The 263 room hotel opened its doors on June 1, 2022. It is exciting to have another luxury points property in the nation's capital.
In November of 2021, it was announced that the Trump Hotel in Washington DC would be changed to a new name. The Trump Organization sold the lease for the property for $375 million and the new owners planned to use it to build a new hotel.
There was a lot of controversy around the hotel. According to documents released by the House Oversight Committee, the hotel lost over $65 million during Trump's time in office, while he claimed that the hotel made $150 million in profit.
The old post office on Pennsylvania Avenue was built between 1892 and 1899. The Trump Hotel is a new property. The Trump Hotel closed a few weeks ago, so there won't be any major renovations. The time was spent changing the branding around the building.
The history and bones of the building make this a great place to live. The public spaces look great but the room decor is too blingy for my tastes.
What are the prices at the new hotel? When the hotel opened a few days ago, prices were through the roof, with a standard room costing as much as $1,500 per night. Pricing is still high but not as high as before.
First of all, the hotel now has standard room award availability, and is charging more points than any other hotel in the country. We don't see a lot of availability beyond the summer and fall.
You can earn free night certificates at this property by using your co- branded credit cards. 100,000 points is the equivalent of paying $550 per night, including all taxes and fees, since you can get them for 0.5 cents each.
The cash rates here start at $900 per night, with taxes and fees, and on many dates get much higher. This is in line with what the top hotels in the area charge so we should expect rates to stay in this range. Lobbyists have a lot of money.
You can get extra perks if you book a paid rate through the hotel's program.
The Trump Hotel Washington DC was put up for sale late last year. The doors of the hotel opened in June 2022. Since this is still a fairly new hotel, it's fair to say that not much has changed about it.
The hotel can now be booked with points for standard free night awards.
