A mother and father were arrested and charged after leaving their two children in a hot car while shopping.

The father was confronted by Channel 2's Michele Newell on Friday to find out why the kids were in the car.

He thinks he did nothing wrong. Pallavarajan says the car was already cold because they were driving for a while.

He kept the windows open while turning the car off.

The children were trapped in the hot car and had to be unlocked by the firefighters.

Police say a couple left their two children in a car while they went grocery shopping at a store in the high 80's.

The windows were rolled up when the car was turned off, according to police.

A customer let a co-worker know that there were two small children. My co-worker ran to the car when she heard about it.

The firefighters unlocked the kit to get the kids out. The police said they were in the car for 20 minutes.

There were charges against the parents.

On Friday, Newell went to their house to ask about what happened.

The two of you are charged with reckless conduct. What do you think about that? The couple was asked what they thought.

We don't want to hurt our child and that's why we didn't do anything intentional.
