On Friday, the Yankees optioned the 27-year-old to Triple-A to make room for Stanton, who was activated from the 10 day injured list Saturday.
The past four years have been difficult for Andujar, who has spent his entire career with the Yankees.
The Dominican Republic native finished second in the American League rookies of the year voting after hitting.300 with 27 homers, 92 runs, and 92RBI in his first full season in the majors.
