Alexander Zverev said that he tore several ligaments in his right foot, which ended his run at the French Open on Friday.

As he went to save a game point in the second set against Nadal at the French Open, he injured his ankle. He was left in pain on the clay after his ankle gave out as he stretched for a forehand.

3 left the court in a wheelchair, and after a hiatus, returned on crutches to retire from the match -- at that stage it was 6-7, 6-6) in Nadal's favor.

He gave an update on his page after undergoing scans and tests. He said hello to the people. I'm going back to my house. It looks like I have torn several ligaments in my foot. I will be flying to Germany on Monday to do further tests and to figure out the best way to get me back to normal.

I would like to thank everyone for the kind messages that have been sent to me. Right now, your support is very important to me. I will try to keep you up to date on what's happening.

With Wimbledon just three weeks away, the severity of the injury means Zverev will likely miss the championship even though he was included on the entry list Friday evening.

I hope he's not too bad, that's the only thing that I can say," Nadal said. It's normal when you turn your ankle, and hopefully it doesn't break. It looks like they need to keep checking.

He started the match really well. I know how important it is for him to win his first grand slam.

We have been practicing together for a long time. It's not the way we want it to be if you see a colleague on the tour like this. If you are a human, you should feel bad for a colleague.
