After the second round of the US Women's Open at Pine Needles, Danielle Kang revealed that she had a tumours on her spine.
The woman who is 12th in the world rankings and won the Women's PGA Championship said that it was not yet known if the tumours was benign or malignant.
The 29-year-old is three over at the halfway point in North Carolina after going through a lot of procedures.
She said that she was happy to be playing again after withdrawing from two tournaments due to back pain.
The road has been difficult. I've been playing terrible for the last couple of months. I haven't done anything for a long time.
The US Women's Open is special to the 14-year-old who qualified as a teen.
Her most recent victory was at the Tournament of Champs in Florida.
She has been on the US Solheim Cup team for three years.
