When to watch and what to know
The New Shepard missions take about 11 minutes to complete. A few minutes before the capsule does, the rocket lands. The passengers on the automated vehicle are able to see Earth against the blackness of space.
The 21st flight for New Shepard will take place on Saturday. It will be the fifth flight to carry people, following crewed suborbital missions in July, October and December of 2021.
The first Mexican-born woman to reach space and the youngest American woman to do so will be one of the crew members. Evan Dick is poised to be the first repeat New Shepard crew member. In December, Dick flew on the new ship.
Echazarreta's seat is sponsored by a group that wants to expand our access to space. The crewmate of the NS-21 was subsidized by the space agency. The other four passengers paid their own way.
Blue Origin has not said how much it cost. Virgin Galactic is currently charging $450,000 for a seat on its space plane, which is not fully operational yet.
Blue Origin pushed the liftoff back after discovering a potential issue with one of New Shepard's backups. The company did not give any information about the problem or solution.
