The Queen would stop and say hello to the hikers. It was obvious from the first time we stopped that they didn't know who the Queen was.
One of the Americans told the Queen where they came from and what sites they had seen. He asked where the queen lived.
"She said that she lives in London, but she has a holiday home on the other side of the hills,"' He asked, "How often have you been up here?".
The hiker asked if she had ever met the Queen after she told the American she had been coming up to the castle for over 80 years.
The Queen said she hadn't but that Dick met her frequently.
The hiker asked if he'd met the Queen. What do you think about her?
"Because I was with her a long time and I knew I could pull her leg, I said, 'Oh, she can be very cantankerous at times, but she's got a lovely sense of humor.' "
The American asked the Queen if she could take a picture of him with the royal protection officer.
We swapped places and I took a picture of them with the Queen. She said she would like to be a fly on the wall when Her Majesty shows the pictures to his friends in America.
