It was Josh Donaldson a few weeks ago. Jim Kaat, who is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and broadcasts for the Twins, made another terrible remark on Thursday, raising the question of why he is still in the booth.
Kaat referred to the Yankees pitcher as "Nestor the Molester" when he wasn't on the field in front of him or in the same city. The remark was made during the Twins game against Detroit, while Chris Archer was at bat. Kaat said that Cortes had become one of his favorites.
Kaat tried to make that horrible term endearing. He is enjoyable to watch.
The Twins organization told the Associated Press that Kaat meant "no ill will" by the comment. The Yankees swept the Angels in a two game series on Thursday and by the end of the second game, Cortes had heard Kaat say something.
He didn't mean it, and people make mistakes, but it didn't offend me. I don't have anything more than that.
He deleted his account and apologized for using the N-word.
Kaat said teams would be better if they looked to get a 40-acre field full of players who looked like Yoan Moncada, who is Cuban. The government promised freed slaves 40 acres and a mule after the Civil War, but it didn't happen. No punishment was given out after Kaat apologized. The Twins and MLB did not immediately take action for Thursday's incident.
When Yoan Moncada was at the plate, Kaat used a poor choice of words and made a statement that was offensive. "I apologize for that."
Twins fans need to listen to you.
