Insider has learned that the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection on the US Capitol building will hold six hearings in June, instead of the eight sessions the Democratic leader had previously described.
The chairman of the House select committee told Insider on Friday that he isn't completely ruling out more hearings after this month.
He said that they are open to doing it if there is something that a hearing can amplify. If we don't get it right, our democracy is at risk.
The committee will be meeting throughout the weekend to plan out when the other hearings will take place.
According to CNN, the House select committee will hold eight hearings in June.
The first public hearing is scheduled for June 9. It's on Capitol Hill. According to a Thursday committee advisory notice, the committee will present at the first hearing "unseen material documenting January 6."
More than 900 people were interviewed and dozens of subpoenas were issued during the House select committee's investigation.
The nine-member panel consisted of seven Democrats and two Republicans.
