Square will begin to support Apple's Tap to Pay technology later this year as part of the company's early access program.
If a company uses Square to process sales, they need to use Square's familiar dongle to receive payments. With support for Apple's Tap to Pay, it should be possible to process a large amount of payments with nothing but the Square app. Square will allow iPhone users to pay with their phone.
Apple was the first to support Stripe. Payments can be made in the POS app. The Tap to Pay feature is only available on the newer models of the iPhone, and if you want to use it, you have to have a card or phone that supports it. Vendors like it because it makes it easy to take in more forms of payment. A lot of Square users still use the dongle.
Square said in its press release that spots for its Early Access Program are limited, but you can sign up for the program now on Square's website.
