Skywatchers will be treated to a rare "planet parade" this month, where all five naked-eye worlds will line up in their proper order from the sun.
You can see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn from the left to the right. As the month matures, it becomes easier to spot Mercury when the show starts.
According to Sky&Telescope, the fiesta will take place on June 3. The magazine said to find a place with a clear view low toward the east to maximize your chance of catching Mercury.
You will need to move fast. It will take less than half an hour between when Mercury first appears above the horizon and when it gets lost in the glare of the rising sun.
There are planets in the June sky.
The planets will shine in a row because they all travel on the plane of the solar system. Each of these worlds is millions of miles away from the others. Sky&Telescope said the last time we saw these five planets in such a configuration was 2004.
June 24 is the best day to view the spectacle. Mercury is supposed to be up about an hour before the sun. The crescent moon will be between Venus and Mars. The planets will be spread out a little more, with a maximum range between Mercury andSaturn of 105 degrees. About 10 degrees of the sky are covered by your clenched fist.
All five worlds should be visible through June if you are unavailable on these dates.
