  • The Secret Service was warned of threats by the chief of staff of the former vice president.

  • The only security alert he ever gave was to the agency.

  • The reporting comes from a forthcoming book.

The day before the January 6 insurrection, the former chief of staff to Vice President Mike Pence warned the Secret Service that Donald Trump was going to attack him.

According to a new report from The New York Times, Short is unsure of the nature of the threat. Multiple sources told Haberman that Short was worried that Trump's efforts to get Pence to stop the official certification of election results could be a security threat.

According to a new report from the Times, Trump tried to convince some of his informal advisers to go to the VP's residence to try and get him to reject the results.

After Trump spoke with Pence and once again pushed him to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power, Short called the lead Secret Service agent in the area and warned him that he would be attacked by Trump.

During the storming of the Capitol, rioters chanted "hang Mike Pence," and Secret Service officers quickly escorted the vice president to a secure location.

Ahead of Short's alert to the agency, Trump officials were ramping up the pressure on the VP's team to overturn the election results.

According to Short, the former White House Chief of Staff said that Trump decided to not fund a post-White House office for the vice president.

For the first time, the names and salaries of Trump and Pence after the White House were revealed as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

The report didn't say if the meeting with Sidney Powell would ever happen.

According to the Times, Short reached out to the top Trump aide and son-in-law, asking how he could diffuse the situation between the two camps.

According to the report, Short was told that he was busy with negotiations in the Middle East. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict continued despite no formal peace agreement and two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces.
