The England U21s beat the Czech Republic on the road to take a big step towards qualification for the European Championships.

Emile Smith Rowe and Jacob Ramsey scored for the Young Lions to leapfrog their hosts at the top of the table.

Ramsey tapped in at the start of the second period after Smith Rowe opened the scoring.

Daniel Fila scored a great goal for the hosts.

Fila's 25-yard effort with three minutes remaining set up a tense finale but the Czechs could not equalise.

The Young Lions need four points from their last three games. They have moved level with the Czechs on points in Group G.

Lee Carsley's side finish their qualification campaign this month with games against Albania, Kosovo, and Slovenia at home.

Only one game remains for the Czechs, who are the only team that can stop England's qualification for the tournament. They will play their final game against Andorra on 13 June.

Under Carsley, England have won six of their seven matches and only dropped one point.

The Young Lions have been eliminated in the group stage in five of the six tournaments they have participated in.

They are one of just six teams that have not lost a game in qualification, along with Spain, the Dutch, Portugal, Italy and France.
