Demonstrating once again that it is only one step behind the rest of the games industry, Sega showed that PC and gaming handhelds are in and miniature game-filled replicas are out. The updated version of Mega Drive includes games from the CD genre.

AT Games was one of the companies that created plug-and-play versions of classic retro consoles like the Genesis and Atari 2600 before Nintendo came along. The Mega Drive 2 is a follow-up to the tiny Genesis which was released three years ago. The Mega Drive 2 has a slightly smaller footprint than its predecessor, but thanks to three years of storage advancement, it now has 50 games. For those who didn't know, the Mega Drive and Genesis CD-ROM add-on was a Mega Drive and Genesis CD-ROM add-on that introduced graphical enhancements and sound and video improvements. The 32X add-on, which was an attempt to keep the Genesis relevant into the early PS-era, made the Genesis look like a toilet.

This is the first time that a game from the sega CD will be usable in a plug and play format.
