Washington Post adds editor’s note to Heard op-ed after verdict

The Washington Post ran an editorial with an editor's note saying that the statements made by Heard were false and should not be read by the public.

The editor's note states that Johnny Depp suedAmber Heard for defamation after she wrote an op-ed about him.

The three defamatory statements Heard made in the piece were listed by the Post.

One of the statements the jury found to be libelous was the piece's headline, which said, "I spoke up against sexual violence and faced our culture's wrath." That needs to be changed.

An extensive and public review of the couple's personal lives during their shortlived marriage was included in the verdict.

The jury awarded more than $10 million to the actor.

If an error has been noted and corrected, editor's notes are attached to the piece.
