NASA's rover has been taking pictures of the Red Planet.

The thing that looked like a door on Mars last month was actually a small gap in ancient sandstone.

There are two ancient "spikes" of cement rock that look like ancient trees.

Last week, the SETI Institute wrote about a rock on Mars. The spikes are most likely from old fissures in the rock The rest of the rock was soft.

#PPOD: Here is another cool rock at Gale crater on Mars! The spikes are most likely the cemented fillings of ancient fractures in a sedimentary rock. The rest of the rock was made of softer material and was eroded away. 📷: @NASA @NASAJPL @Caltech #MSSS fredk, acquired on May 17. pic.twitter.com/RGfjmRBfI7

Crater Discovery

The Mastcam instrument was used to take the picture. We can't say with any degree of certainty what it is because the team at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab hasn't commented on it.

The team has been contacted by Futurism to find out more.

It's a good look into the Red Planet's geological past. The surrounding crater has been explored by the rover for almost 10 years.

The crater is thought to have been formed after a huge meteorite hit the planet's surface around 3.8 billion years ago.

The crater was formed at a certain time. Don't be surprised to find out.

There are spots on Mars that are real.

The scientists are very interested in the sign of life on Mars.
