Have the Steelers already quit on the season?

There are 14 teams with the biggest cap hits on offense. An offensive lineman is the biggest cap hit on the team. The six teams are spending the most money on a wide receiver. There are four on a tight end and two on a running back. 31 teams is how it's made. The PittsburghSteelers are the only remaining team.

The highest-paid player on the offensive side of the ball will beDerek Watt. Watt has a huge cap hit this year. It is more than any quarterback on their roster and more than starting right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor.

What are the thoughts of the Steeler's on Earth?

Pittsburgh has the seventh most cap space in the league and there are still some very solid free agents out there. J.C.Tretter is an elite center, and he is available to be taken by theSteelers. Their current centerMason Cole is fine in the run game, but was decimated as a pass blocker last year. Go sign it. Even though he isn't what he once was, at least he's a proven vet and would probably be an upgrade over Dan Moore. The linemen are only part of the equation.

The team lost JuJu Smith-Schuster in the off-season, and they could really use another passing weapon to help Kenny. There is a man there. When you have almost $20 million in cap space left, you can pick up Rob Gronkowski, even if you don't think he's worth it. All of these guys could be signed for less money. Don't pay your fullback more than anyone else.

Watt only saw seven percent of the snaps on offense. It was seven per cent. He could be a stray cat storming the field. Watt was more likely to see the field on special teams. He saw 332 special teams snaps. He is your highest-paid offensive player. It's just embarrassing.

What do you do to stop that? How are you going to pay over four million dollars for a single person? Kyle Juszczyk is the best full back in football. He has been there for a long time. He will make less than three million in the next few years. Juszczyk might be willing to take a smaller salary in order to get the lucrative Incogmeato deal. It is a joke. The points I am trying to make still stand despite the fact that he is going to make more than six million.

  1. Watt shouldn’t be making nearly as much money as he is in 2022
  2. The Steelers need to spend more on offense

The more I look at this team, the more I think the front office is going to throw in the towel.

Diontae Johnson has not been extended. They didn't address their offensive line in the draft, which was a huge problem last year and a big reason why Najee Harris averaged less than four yards per carry.

The team has time to make a splash before the season begins, but they haven't made a sound yet. They haven't had a losing record since 2003 but the team seems content with where it's at.

Over the last 20 or so years, I have learned not to bet against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but to pay a fullback more than anyone else on the team. It shouldn't be a big deal that they have the lowest odds to win the division next year, more than five times higher than the Ravens.
