American Airlines has gone up to 4x and United has gone down to 2x.
Update from Nick 6/1/22: Marriott is once again 6x on United Mileage Plus Shopping (note: if you’re playing the American Airlines Loyalty point game, it is alternatively 3x on AAdvantage eShopping). I just cancelled and rebooked a reservation I made yesterday to get 6x on my stay. As an added bonus, the price per night had decreased enough to save me a nice slice of cash. The original post follows.
If you were planning on booking stays with Marriott, today could be a good day to do that as the United shopping portal is offering an increased rate of 6 MileagePlus miles per dollar.
If you earn 6 MileagePlus miles per dollar, you will get a great return compared to what you would normally get. There have only been five other days in the last 15 months where airlines have offered more than 3x miles for Marriott.
People who have a United credit card can sometimes get better portal rates on the United shopping portal. Regardless of whether or not you have a United credit card, you will earn 6x the Marriott rate.
There are two Marriott Amex offers, one for $50 when you spend $250 at some of their brands and the other for $100 when you spend $500 at their higher end brands.
If you click through from a shopping portal, you are booking directly with Marriott. You get points, elite night credits, and status benefits.
