The Fourth of July is one of America's most festive holidays, with firework displays, backyard barbecues, and family-friendly entertainment.

From big-city bashes to wild-west rodeos, here are the best places to honor the red, white, and blue in 2020.

New York City, New York

Lady Liberty's home of New York goes all out for America's birthday. The nation's bravest bellies gather at Coney Island for Nathan's International Hot Dog-Eating Contest, followed by a baseball game and fireworks show. In Staten Island, there is a historic parade that has been going on for 100 years.

The Macy's Fourth of July Spectacular is one of the country's biggest fireworks shows. Over 65,000 shells are going to be launched from five barges on the East River near the Brooklyn Bridge. You can either head to Brooklyn Bridge Park or reserve a spot at a riverside joint for a better view.

Huntington Beach, California

The first Fourth of July fte in 1904 was attended by 50,000 people. The largest Independence Day shindig west of the Mississippi is held in this sunny Los Angeles suburb.

There are four days of events, including an all-American 5K, a float-filled parade along historic Main Street, and live entertainment. fireworks light up the night sky over Huntington Beach Pier at 9pm on July 4th

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

July 4th is a celebration of American history, and no place brings that history to life quite like Colonial Williamsburg, an authentic 18th century town where re-enactments transport visitors back to the nation's earliest days. The Declaration of Independence was read from the West Balcony of the Capitol building by Thomas Jefferson.

The Palace Green will be lit up with lights of freedom. American marching music, a patriotic sing-a-long, and selections from George Frideric Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks are included in the concert. Market Square is the best place to see the spectacle.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming 

It's ideal for July 4th celebrations. There is a pancake breakfast in Town Square. A parade filled with horses, clowns, and all the trappings of a John Wayne movie takes off after a gunfight reenactment.

An old-school rodeo is a great way to end the night if you're into cowboy culture. The sun setting behind the Grand Tetons' white-capped peaks is one of the best things about fireworks. The nation's most magnificent light show is this one.

Seward, Alaska 

Because of Alaska's midnight sun, Seward's fireworks don't go off until after midnight. The Mount Marathon Race was founded in 1915.

The world's most challenging 5K is held in Seward every year, with the population ballooning from 3000 to 30,000. In the hopes of becoming the marathon's winner, madcap adventurer ascend and descend a 3,022-foot peak above the bay. Those who compete in the trek get a lifetime of bragging rights.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Declaration of Independence was signed in the city of Brotherly Love. The Juneteenth Block Party will be held on June 19th at the Wawa Welcome America festival. A series of free museum days, outdoor films, and live performances precede a holiday weekend filled with national pride.

You can get a free ticket to Independence Mall to see the Philly POPS Orchestra if you like patriotic songs. There will be food trucks, games, and a kids zone at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on July 4th. At 7 pm, the parkway will host an outdoor concert featuring pop icons. fireworks explode over the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Aptos, California

If you're looking for a way to celebrate small-town America, look no further than the sleepy hamlet of Aptos, which has hosted the world's shortest parade.

Don't let the small size fool you, this town has a lot of life left in it. The march is attended by thousands of spectators every year. On Soquel Drive and State Park Drive, there will be a celebration at 10 am. After the parade, you can go to the village park and watch the celebrations all day.

Nashville, Tennessee

Music City is best known for its holiday featuring performances by world-class musicians. On July 1st, you can see Ben Folds perform with the Nashville Symphony, on July 2nd, you can see Chagall Guevera perform at the Ryman Auditorium, and on July 3rd, you can see Riley Green perform. There are games, inflatables, and live music in the Family Fun Zone at the Walk of Fame Park.

Let freedom sing. Music City ends on July 4th. Gramps Morgan, a pop-punk princess, and a country hunk will be at the party. Ascend Amphitheater has show-topping fireworks after the concert. The city puts on fireworks for a performance by the symphony.

Addison, Texas 

A lot of fireworks. There are half a million spectators. In this suburb north of Dallas, everything is larger. Kaboom Town! will take place on July 3rd.

You don't have to worry if you don't get a chance to buy a limited number of free tickets. The rocket's red glare can be seen from almost anywhere, and restaurants and hotels host watch parties for out-of-towners. It's a good idea to stretch your neck and shoulders prior to the event. You will be craning your neck high for most of the night because of the "Freedom Flyover" airshow.

Boston, Massachusetts

Bunker Hill and the resting place of Paul Revere can be found on Boston's cobblestone streets. The Fourth of July is a big time event in Beantown, and the city lives up to expectations.

Visitors can see an Arts and Crafts market, meet re-enactors and enjoy music from the 215th Army Band at the beginning of the events. On July 2nd, there are free performances at the DTX party.

The Declaration of Independence will be read at the Old State House on July 4th. The Boston Pops' annual Fourth of July Spectacular will return to the Hatch Memorial Shell for the first time in three years. Cannons and fireworks illuminate the city as the 1812 Overture is performed.

Fire Island Pines, New York 

Fire Island is not a great place to celebrate Independence Day. queens and kings of all kinds take a ferry from Cherry grove to the pines every summer During the summer of 1976, a restaurant in the Pines refused to serve a drag queen because of their costume. A group of queens invaded the Pines on July 4th and were met with drinks and admiration.

Hundreds of flamboyantly-dressed revelers travel the same route today. They walk down a red carpet into the open arms of the crowd. The party continues at bars when the runway is over. The event celebrates American liberation even though it isn't celebrating Independence Day.
