According to Michael Silver of Bally Sports, Alex Mack is retiring after 13 seasons in the National Football League.
Mack played for five teams over the course of his career, earning seven Pro Bowls along the way.
In his first season with the Niners, he started all 17 regular-season games and all three playoffs games, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl.
Mack was originally selected by Cleveland with the 21st overall pick in the 2009 draft.
Mack played a huge role in Atlanta reaching the playoffs in each of his first two seasons after signing a five-year free-agent deal with the Falcons.
The Falcons went all the way to the Super Bowl in 2016 and held a big lead over New England before the Pats came back to win the game.
After five years in Atlanta, Mack left the Falcons and joined the 49ers, who lost to the Rams in the playoffs.
