Deere is moving tractor cab production from Iowa to Mexico.

The parts plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, will be the new location for that part of the production operations.

The move will allow for the introduction of new products.

Waterloo can open up floor space to manufacture new products as a result of the decision to move cab production, the company said in a statement.

The number of employees affected will be dependent on production volumes and employee attrition over the next two years.

About 250 workers are at risk of losing their jobs.

The leaders of the union that represents about 3000 workers in Waterloo could not be reached for comment.

John Deere employees voted to end their strike.

Ten thousand UAW workers went on strike for five weeks before the union approved a new six-year contract that increased wages and improved retirement benefits.

Two previous contracts proposed by Deere and the UAW were rejected. Deere hadn't had a strike in 26 years.
