Musk's stance on remote work could cause another shake up at the company since they declared a work-from- home policy in 2020.

The billionaire, who is in the process of buying the micro-messaging service, sent an email to his employees at both companies telling them to either return to work or resign. The Washington Post verified the leaked emails.

The billionaire took a dig at companies that allow telecommuting.

When was the last time a company shipped a new product? A companywide email was sent by Musk. It has been awhile.

Musk didn't reply to the question of whether the policy would eventually apply to the micro-messaging service. A person from the company told Fast Company that it has no plans to change it's policies.

The priority is for employees to work where they are most productive.

If Musk completes his purchase of the company, there will be no choice but to follow suit.

Jack Dorsey, a friend of Musk, is against Musk's stance on telecommuting. He was known for his bohemian lifestyle. The company's headquarters in San Francisco was one of the places that inspired him.

When it was announced that employees would be allowed to work from home indefinitely, a companywide email was sent with the subject line "#love where you work."

He wrote that they've proven they can make it work with a distributed workforce.

There were plans to encourage a distributed workforce.

"I don't fear slowness as we work to distribute our workforce now, and I think we have to build a company that's not entirely dependent on San Francisco," he said. We're reaching a talent pool that expects a lot more remote work and we should build our company around that. I don't have any plans for this year, but I expect to travel.

A number of tech companies are trying to increase their talent pool through remote work policies. Brian Chesky said the office was from a pre-digital age after the company announced that employees could work from home forever. Apple and Microsoft have had to modify their return to work policies due to opposition from employees.

A key benefit has been remote working opportunities. A Harris Poll last year found that a majority of Americans would take a pay cut in order to be able to work from home. Three economists said remote work didn't affect workers' ability to get things done and may even increase productivity.

It's not the first time that Musk's opinion on remote work could be a problem. The purchase could affect the company's ability to attract and keep employees.

The news of Musk's purchase had sparked negative feedback from many workers, with some questioning how Musk could change the company's culture. Musk said last month that work ethic expectations would be extreme for employees of the micro-blogging site.
