Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that Russian forces now control about 20% of Ukrainian territory.
Zelenskyy told the Luxembourgish parliament that around 20 percent of the territory is under the control of the occupiers.
Russia's occupation includes a stretch of land that goes from the north to the east as well as the south of the country. The frontline of the war is about 1,000 kilometers long.
Zelenskyy referred to the occupied area as including the annexed region of the Crimea.

Russian advances in the first few weeks of the war were answered with strong counter-resistance as Ukrainian forces slowly reclaimed the territory it lost.
Evidence of mass executions and torture of innocent bystanders were found during Russia's retreat.
Russia has been bombarding Ukrainian cities and attacking civilians in the eastern part of the country.
Zelenskyy said that the Russian army had already destroyed most of the Donbas.
Zelenskyy said that there won't be peace until Putin agrees to return areas seized by Russia in the past.
The impact of the war continues to be felt across the country despite fighting being concentrated in easternUkraine. Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians have been weathering thousands of missiles since the war started.
About 300,000 square kilometers are strewn with mines and unexploded bombs.
