Amazon is making it easier for shoppers to buy a PS5. The company says that if you are chosen, you will receive an e-mail with a link to purchase one, and you can request an invitation right here on the console. You don't have to be a Prime subscriber to get an invite.

This invite-based system seems to be only available for the more expensive version of the PS5 that comes with ablu-ray disc drive and not the digital version. To be considered for an invite to buy a PS5 directly, you must register on a rolling basis. You just need to log in.

The timing of the new invite system was interesting or I was reading too much into it. Walmart will have a chance to sell a PS5 to Walmart Plus subscribers at 3PM today.

The PS5 is one of the few remaining hot tech items that has yet to meet the high demand. The Nintendo Switch and several high-end PC gaming graphics cards are available in stock.
