Frank Gore is retiring from the National Football League as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Gore will sign a one day contract with the 49ers to end his career with the team he spent the first 10 years of his career with.

Gore said on April 2 that he would retire after signing a one-day contract with the 49ers.

If they were no longer playing for that organization at the time of their retirement, many football players choose to sign a ceremonial contract with that team.

The likes of Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and Tim Brown received one-day contracts before retiring.

Gore is one of the best running backs of all time. He has 16,000 rushing yards and is tied for 19th with 81 rushing touchdown.

Gore is the only player in league history to have more yards from scrimmage than any other player.
