Polestar’s experimental EV, nicknamed ‘Beast,’ is getting a limited production run

Polestar's one-off for the Festival of Speed is going into limited production.

The Swedish EV maker plans to make and sell 270 units of the 476-hp fastback sedans, with 47 of them intended for the US market. The Polestar 2 will only be available in Europe, China, and North America.

The modified Polestar 2 has a dual- motor configuration that pumps out 476 horsepower, compared to the production version's 408. The stance of the vehicle has been widened and the ride height has been lowered to improve track handling.

There are other add-ons such as hlins 2-way adjustable dampers with auxiliary adjustment chambers mounted under the bonnet for improved traction and responsiveness. There is also a front bar for stiffening springs.

The colors available on the exterior are called Snow or Thunder. If you really want to go for the full experience, you can request a center black racing stripe.

The Polestar 2 BST edition 270 will be delivered in the fourth quarter of the year. Interested buyers can join the waiting list at Polestar's website, and the lucky few who get picked will go through a personalized sales process.

Polestar, the performance brand of Volvo, has become one of the more interesting EV companies on the market. The company, which is a joint venture between Volvo and Volvo's parent company, is planning to go public. Polestar will be a publicly traded company after the merger closes.
