Juan Mata will leave Manchester United at the end of the month after eight years at the club.

He was signed by David Moyes from his previous club, the Blues, in January of 2014, and went on to score 51 goals for United.

Mata won the FA Cup in 2016 under Louis van Gaal, but he also helped the side to the League Cup and the Europa League the following season.

Mata played in just 12 games this season under both Solskjaer and Rangnick.

The Spaniard will leave the club along with Jesse Lingard, who will also be leaving at the end of their contracts on Wednesday.

The departures of Mata, Pogba and Lingard come at the same time as ten Hag takes over as the new manager at United.

One of Ten Hag's first acts was to make a move for Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona player who played under him at Ajax.

United have held initial talks with Barcelona over the signing of De Jong, who is one of the players they are looking at.

Sky Sports News has been told a deal is not close as there would be significant obstacles to overcome.

Ten Hag rates De Jong highly. The Dutch player was part of the team that won the Eredivisie title and reached the semifinals of the playoffs.

According to reports, the 25-year-old, who has made 139 appearances for Barcelona, is unwilling to leave this summer.
