Three people were killed in a shooting at a medical building on a hospital campus, a police captain said.

The number of dead was confirmed by Capt. Richard Meulenberg. The shooter was dead, according to Meulenberg.

It wasn't clear how the shooter died.

The police said in a Facebook post that officers were going through every room in the building looking for additional threats.

Multiple people were wounded and the medical complex was a catastrophic scene, according to Meulenberg.

St. Francis Health System locked down its campus because of a situation at the Natalie Medical Building. The Natalie building has a surgery center and a breast health center.

The helicopter footage appeared to show a person on a stretcher being wheeled away from the hospital building.

Dozens of police cars could be seen outside the hospital complex as the investigation went on.

A reunification center was set up at a high school.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents were at the scene.
