The chief operating officer of Facebook is leaving the company after 14 years.
In a post on Facebook, Ms Sandberg said she hoped to focus on her foundation and philanthropic work going forward.
Her departure comes at a time when Meta is facing a decline in advertising sales.
One of the most high-profile women in the tech industry is Ms. Sandberg.
She wrote that she hoped to be in this role for five years when she took the job.
When Ms Sandberg leaves Meta, she will be replaced by the company's chief growth officer, Javier Olivan.
