The current troll-in-residence is telling the workers to head back to the office.

The subject line of the email was "Remote work is no longer acceptable." The email shows that Musk wants to end remote work for his employees and that he wants them to work in the office full-time.

"Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers."

They should pretend to work somewhere else, Musk said in response to a leaked email.

At a time when many tech companies are rethinking their remote work policies, Musk decided to force employees to return to the office. Some companies have permanent hybrid or remote work policies in place. Apple has given employees the option of opting out of the return-to-work program because of major resistance, after initially mandating employees come back into the office in April.

The company that Musk is in the process of acquiring is also an example of a tech company that has adopted a hybrid work model.

Musk explained his decision in a follow-up email to staff, saying he wants senior leadership to set an example by being more visible. He said that if he hadn't done that,Tesla would have gone bankrupt.

Musk stated that companies that don't have strict return-to-office mandates are failures. It has been a while.

Musk says he will review any exceptions for exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible.

You need to be a genius with an oxygen allergy to be able to work from home.
