The new A330-900neo cabins include a competitive looking business class. The executives should be sweating.
The German leisure airline plans to acquire 16 A330-900neo aircraft. This was a huge development for the airline, as they used to fly Boeing 767s on long haul flights.
A330-900neos offer more capacity, better fuel efficiency and economics, and also give Condor the opportunity to change the inflight experience. Condor is competing head-to-head against Lufthansa on certain routes, rather than just focusing on leisure routes.
The airline has just revealed what we can expect from the inflight product. Condor’s A330-900neos will feature a total of 310 seats, and will be in a three cabin layout. Let’s go over the details (this is in addition to Condor recently revealing its bold new livery, which I love).
The A330-900neo business class will have a total of 30 seats. Each passenger will have direct aisle access in business class. The seats can be turned into a flat bed. Business class seats will have 4K personal TVs with a touch screen and remote control.
The A330-900neo premium economy will have 64 seats. This is more like extra legroom economy since seats won't have any additional width, which is why the airline is marketing it as premium economy.
Premium economy passengers will have up to 15 cm of additional seat pitch, a greater seat recline angle, and footrests. The premium economy will have 4K TVs.
There will be 216 seats in the A330-900neo economy. There is no information as to what seat pitch will be, but each seat will have a 4K television.
High-speed broadband internet will be offered in the cabin of the A330-900neos, which is an exciting development for the airline. There is no information on what pricing will be. It is hoped that the airline will have fixed pricing and no data caps.
The first A330-900neo will be delivered by the fall of 2022, with one plane delivered every month. Most of the A330-900neos will be delivered by the end of the year.
The first destinations for the A330-900neo will be the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Seattle in the winter of 2022.
It's even more exciting that Lufthansa will finally be getting some increased competition in Germany when it comes to product quality, because the cabins of Condor look great in general. The airline has been a leisure airline and hasn't really moved into the territory of the other airlines.
The carrier flies Boeing 767s that have an outdated product, including business class seats. By the end of 2023, the new cabins will make the experience of long haul travel more consistent and premium for business class passengers.
The new business class isn't cutting edge, but it is a great improvement for the airline. It is more than enough for an airline to have flat beds and direct aisle access.
What do you think about the 5-star rating for Condor?
As the airline looks to update its long haul fleet, it will start flying the A330-900neos later this year. We know what to expect. The A330-900neos will have 310 seats, including 30 business class seats that are fully flat, and direct aisle access.
Extra legroom economy is what the airline claims it has on these planes. Improved seatback entertainment, and improved wi-fi on its planes are some of the improvements that will be made by Condor.
Well done, Condor! I can't wait to fly one of these planes.
