If you convert your Ultimate rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy points, Chase will give you a promotion.

The transfer bonuses of the major points currencies have historically been offered by Ultimate Rewards. Fortunately that has improved in the past couple of years, as we now see transfer bonuses more and more.

Chase offering 50% bonus on Marriott Bonvoy transfers

You can get a 50% bonus when you transfer Ultimate rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy.

The bonus isn't hardcoded into the transfer ratio, so when you transfer Ultimate rewards points, you won't see the bonus on the transfer page. Marriott Bonvoy will deposit the bonus once your transfer is complete.

This is not the first time we have seen this promotion.

This isn't a deal I would recommend taking advantage of, but a 50% transfer bonus sounds like it could be. Why? I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each, while I value Chase Ultimate rewards points at 1.7 cents each. When you get 1.5 Marriott Bonvoy points per Ultimate Rewards point, you're still only getting 1.05 cents of value per Ultimate Rewards point, by my valuation.

You can redeem Ultimate rewards points for travel purchases through the Chase Travel portal. World of Hyatt points are more valuable than Marriott Bonvoy points, yet Chase Ultimate rewards points usually transfer to both currencies at a 3:1 ratio.

The St. Regis Maldives

There are situations where the hotel stay is worth more than the points transfered, so you could technically get value with this transfer. There are more efficient ways to get those points.

Marriott Bonvoy used to charge up to 100,000 Bonvoy points per night for free night redemptions, but as of March 2022, award charts were eliminated, as dynamic award pricing was introduced. Pricing changes haven't been that drastic so far, but we're going to see more pricing variability as of 2023.

You can get a 50% bonus when you transfer Chase Ultimate rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy. This isn't one to get too excited about and it's good to see Chase offer another transfer bonus.

I don't think this offer is worth it. Even with a 50% bonus, Marriott Bonvoy isn't an efficient Chase Ultimate rewards transfer partner. I would give this offer, but I am sure some will find it worthwhile.
