One of the first watches to hit the market was the one from South Korea. With Apple Watch soon taking over much of the market, cameras on smartwatches were largely abandoned as a concept.

A newly granted patent shows that Apple is still considering giving the Apple Watch a camera.

The watch with the camera integrated into the crown is described in the patent as being able to take a photo in low light conditions.

When you have to point your wrist in a certain direction to take a photo, it gets awkward fast. The patent describes the possibility of the watch being detached from the wrist to take photos.

It is possible that Apple has given up on the idea since the patent was filed in 2019. The fact that a company has filed a patent does not mean that the feature will become reality. You may continue to dream if you want a way to take photos from your wrist.

According to reports, Apple's next Watch might have a new, flatter design, as well as several new health-related features, such as blood-pressure monitoring, and sleep tracking. A rugged version of the watch is in the works.
