The Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday that the Russian defense ministry said that the nuclear forces were conducting drills.

The news of the exercises in the Ivanovo province came after President Joe Biden said that the US would give more advanced rocket systems to Ukraine.

More than 100 pieces of equipment and about 1,000 military personnel are taking part in Russia's latest exercises, according to a defense ministry report.

The maneuvers involve Russia's Strategic Missile Forces, which bring missile systems to field positions, making marches up to 100 km, and organizing camouflage and combat security.

An intercontinental missile with a range of up to 6,500 miles is included in the equipment used by the Strategic Missile Forces. The multiple-warhead missile can strike any target in the US.

The US would cross a red line if it provided long-range rocket systems to Ukraine, according to a Russian TV host. She said the act would be seen as an attempt tovoke a very harsh response from Russia.

Russia's nuclear forces have been on high alert since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the conflict, some of the Kremlin's top officials have made veiled warnings of nuclear war, but have often backtracked on their comments.
