Williams has a new home.
Williams was signed to a one-year deal by the Arizona Cards. The first four years of his career were with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jaylen Samuels was released to make room for Williams.
Williams was the leading scorer in an offense centered around quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the passing game. Williams had career-highs in carries for 558 yards, six touchdown, 47 reception, , and two more scores.
After the departure of free agent Chase Edmonds, Williams is a backup behind starter James Conner. The only other running backs on the roster are Keaontay and Eno Benjamin. Benjamin was selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
He earned his second career trip to the Pro Bowl after a stellar 2021. In his first year with Arizona, he ran for 752 yards on 202 carries and scored 15 rushing touchdown. He was rewarded with a three-year contract extension in March.
The Cards finished second in the West last season. The season ended with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round.
