Facebook’s transformation to Meta will be complete with new ticker symbol on June 9

Meta is about to change its name.

The company will change its stock ticker symbol to "meta" before the market opens on June 9.

In October, Meta said it was part of its ambitions beyond social media. The metaverse is a sci-fi term that involves working and playing in a virtual world.

Meta said it would change its stock ticker toMVRS on December 1. The company said in November that it was postponing the change to the first quarter of 2022.

Roundhill Investments decided to give up the ticker symbol for the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF. Meta was freed up to grab it.

The shareholders of the company are not required to vote on the ticker symbol change.
