Steven Davis says signing a one-year extension with Rangers was never going to be a difficult conversation.
He has made more than 350 Rangers appearances over the course of his career.
The Scottish Cup was won by Davis and the team reached the Europa League final.
He said it was never an option to look anywhere else if Rangers wanted him.
Davis was out of contract this summer and his future at Ibrox was up in the air at the end of the season.
He said it was important that he focused on the two cup finals as opposed to his future.
Rangers lost on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt in the European final, but bounced back to win the Scottish Cup.
It was important that we focused on the remaining games of the season, there were important things at stake, so I was delighted to end with a Scottish Cup win and then it was easy to sort it out.
It means the world. I grew up a Rangers fan and have spent a lot of time here.
It was a good time for the club in terms of success, and there was the chance to come back under Steven Gerrard. I look forward to the season and I am really thankful that we have come to this agreement.
Davis found game time limited afterniggly injuries and a positive Covid-19 test, and admitted he found his time on the sidelines frustrating.
He said it seemed like it was one thing after another and he was delighted to get his fitness levels up.
There is good quality in the group and a good hunger and desire.
It would have been easy after the setback in Seville, but it was really important for us as a group to get through the funeral of Jimmy Bell, it meant a lot to us and took a lot out of us.
That shows the character and desire in the team and we can build on that now.
I hope we can make many more memories this season. It is a special club and hopefully we can go on to have more success.
Davis is focused on the Nations League, which will see Northern Ireland play four times in 10 days, after working up to full fitness with Rangers.
Ian Baraclough's side have yet to win a Nations League match.
Davis scored twice in Northern Ireland's Euro 2016 qualification win over Belfast, and Greece will travel to Windsor Park on Thursday for the first time in two years.
He said that the victory over Greece was one of the best memories of his career, and he has full faith in the youthful squad that will face them again.
To get the goals, to get the win and being in a comfortable position in the game where you can actually take a bit of it is what we experienced in France.
It would be great to duplicate that performance and result.
We can do something special with this group if we perform to the levels we are capable of.
There is a carrot for us because we know there is a play-off place up for grabs.
