The Back to the Future film franchise turned the DeLorean into a pop-culture icon.

The best part? It is being reinvented as a whole new EV by the incarnated DMC, which was acquired by Stephen Wynne in 1995.

After months of anticipation, we finally get a look at this unique vehicle.

The Alpha5+ is now called.

The Alpha5+ pays homage to the 1981 DeLorean car with its character, turbine-style wheels, and gull-wing doors.

Italdesign is the same company that dreamed up the original.

The new name isn't the only thing that has changed.

The 1981 model of the Alpha5+ has four seats instead of two.

The car's bodywork appears to emphasize the car's aerodynamics, getting narrower as it goes from the A-pillars towards the rear-end.

Like most modern vehicles, the Alpha5+'s interior looks to be centered around a pair of big screens, one serving as the instrument panel and the other as the infotainment system.

The EV could be powered by a 100 kilowatt battery for more than 300 miles.

It can go from zero to 60mph in 2.98 seconds, and it has a top speed of 125mph.

There will be other models available as well as the base performance model. The Alpha+ is expected to be a capable vehicle, as the Alpha is the benchmark vehicle for performance.

The Monterey Car Week will feature the premiere of the electric DeLorean on August 18. I can wait.
