The new manager of Queens Park Rangers is expected to be Michael Beale.

Beale was given the go-ahead to leave Villa Park and take his first job as a number one with the Championship club.

Sky Sports News understands that Villa were aware of the desire of Beale to become a manager when he was appointed.

Mark Warburton left the club at the end of the season. The club finished 11th in the league despite being on the fringes of automatic promotion in February.

After joining Rangers in the fall of 2018, he was a part of the team that led the club to a first Scottish title in 10 years.

After ending his playing career at the age of 21, Beale began coaching at the academy, working with Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke during their rise through the club's ranks.

He joined the academy after working with the U16s and then the U23s, where he started to work with the U18s.

Six months after moving to Sao Paolo, they were axed as assistant to Rogerio Ceni.

Villa was in danger of being demoted to the second tier of the English game when Gerrard was appointed.
