Due to staff shortages, Tui is cutting flights from Manchester airport over the next month.

Up to 37,000 people will be affected by the cancellation of up to six flights a day until the end of June.

The decision came amid growing anger over flight disruption ahead of the extended Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend and prior to the summer peak.

Over the last few days, Swissport, the ground handler at Manchester airport, has experienced significant challenges with their check-in and baggage reclaim operations.

It is clear from extensive discussions with the management teams that they are experiencing temporary staff shortages.

We are obviously disappointed to see passengers' plans disrupted in this way, but we understand the challenges that are being faced.

As the travel sector builds back to full strength after the Pandemic, we will continue to work with partners to give passengers the best possible service.

We advise passengers to arrive three hours before their flight and to be prepared for their journey through the airport.

We would like to apologize to our customers who have experienced flight disruption in recent days and understand that they have been looking forward to these holidays for a long time.

The May half-term holidays are always busy with many customers looking to get away.

Due to ongoing challenges in our operation, we have had to announce a small number of planned cancellation from Manchester airport. All impacted customers will receive a full refund after we contact them directly.

We can assure our customers that the rest of the flying programme will go on as planned.

We would like to apologize again and thank customers for their understanding and patience during this time.
