Anthony Gordon and Joel Matip tangle in the box at Anfield
Frank Lampard insisted Joel Matip's challenge on Anthony Gordon should have resulted in a penalty at Anfield

The Football Association fined Frank Lampard for his comments after the 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Reds.

Stuart Attwell did not award a penalty for the challenge on Anthony Gordon.

He said a penalty would have been given if the challenge had been made on the player.

The FA said Lampard breached FA rule E3 "in relation to media comments proven during a personal hearing".

The challenge on Gordon was not reviewed by the Professional Game Match Officials after the derby.

Gordon went over in the area after a challenge by Matip.

Andy Robertson scored the opener eight minutes after the incident.

It was a penalty, and you don't get them at Anfield, according to Lampard.

If that was at the end of the game, I think the referee gives that. It was a foul on Anthony.
