  • Peter Navarro revealed in a lawsuit that he had been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury.

  • The panel investigating the Capitol riot subpoenaed the former Trump aide.

  • If Donald Trump allowed him to, he would testify.

The FBI served a subpoena to Peter to testify before a federal grand jury about the attack on the Capitol.

The January 6 House Committee, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the US attorney for the District of Columbia are all named in the lawsuit.

The grand jury subpoena instructed him to produce documents in his possession related to the Capitol attack and any communications with former President Donald Trump, according to the 88-page draft. The grand jury subpoena is the subject of a lawsuit.

It was served to his house by two FBI agents who shouted loudly on his door, according to his lawsuit.

The January 6 House Committee served him a subpoena in February, according to the draft. Even after the House voted to hold him in contempt of Congress, he refused to cooperate with the January 6 committee.

The grand jury subpoena was the fruit of a poisonous tree, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit will be filed on Tuesday morning.

The issues raised in the lawsuit took several months to prepare, so I find it my duty to raise them now rather than submit to the committee.

According to the outlet, Navarro said he would represent himself because of his experience with regulatory economics publishing articles in law journals.

When asked by The New York Times if he would comply with the grand jury subpoena and testify on Thursday, he responded with "TBD."

The lawsuit said that he would only testify if he was given the go-ahead by Trump. It asked that Graves and the US Attorney negotiate this directly with Trump, calling it the less burdensome alternative.

The lawsuit denounced the waiving of Trump's executive privilege over records related to the Capitol riot by President Joe Biden. He and Biden did not have the right to impose such waivers.

The former Trump aide was subpoenaed by the January 6 committee for his testimony on a strategy called the Green Bay Sweep, which was supposed to delay the certification of Biden's 2020 election victory so the election could be investigated for fraud and irregularity.

According to his book, "In Trump Time," Navarro was one of the people who backed the plan. The outlet reported that he called the idea the "last, best chance to snatch a stolen election from the Democrats".

During his time working for Trump, he helped work on trade policies.

According to The Times, a grand jury subpoena would be the first court order related to the January 6 attack. Ali Alexander, a key leader in the Stop the Steal movement, was served a federal grand jury subpoena in April and said he would cooperate with the probe.

More than 800 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol riot.
