Externally, the laptop looks very similar to its predecessor.

An early retailer listing from Korea suggests that Microsoft will announce an updated version of its Surface Laptop Go.

The 10th-gen model found in the original 2020 laptop has been replaced by the newer 11th-gen Intel CPUs. The Go 2 will ship with Windows 11 this time around, and the retailer page says its webcam will have improved HD camera performance, but an official announcement might not be forthcoming. The laptop could have a starting price of $650.

The new laptop is very similar to its predecessor. It still has a 12.4-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, the same selection of ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a port for Microsoft's proprietary charging port. The omission of a backlit keyboard on the first Laptop Go was unfortunate.

Microsoft’s proprietary charging port appears to be alive and well.

It will be the same as last time, but it isn't clear what the base-level model will be. A previous report from WinFuture suggests that the Surface Laptop Go could start with 128GB of storage. The Laptop Go 2 is rated to offer 13 hours of use per charge.

The Surface Laptop Go is designed to compete with Chromebooks that are popular with students, and is marketed as the affordable entry in Microsoft's Surface laptop lineup. We were not impressed with the original model, which was an uncompetitive price.
