The skyline of Las Vegas and the Strip are both in a state of constant change as buildings are torn down and replaced with new ones.

A new-build project that has caught the attention of area residents and frequent visitors to Sin City is currently underway. If you've been to Las Vegas recently, you've probably seen it and wondered what it was.

VERTISING

The massive spherical structure that is going up just behind The Venetian is an unprecedented and incredibly ambitious project that has been years in the making. The company that owns Madison Square Garden in New York City created the MSG Sphere.

Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes are two of the brands of Madison Square Garden Entertainment.

The orb-like superstructure that is currently in progress is destined to become a state-of-the-art, ultra-high-tech entertainment venue unlike anything the world has seen so far.

The completion of primary steelwork on the building was no mean feat and involved over 700 tons of steel.

The globe's exterior surface will be so large and bright that it will be visible from space. The exosphere will give onlookers the illusion that they can see through it to the other side.

It has the potential to be one of the most photographed buildings on the planet, according to the president of Entertainment Madison Square Garden.

The indoor performance arena at the MSG Sphere is designed to host music performances and other live entertainment experiences that fully immerse audiences to a degree that has never been achieved before.

The structure's interior will have a 20,000-guest capacity and will have a huge 160,000- square-foot screen that wraps around the stage, completely covering the audience in the media experience.

To create new forms of content compatible with the MSG Sphere's visual displays, the company had to build a studio in Burbank, California and recruit artists, engineers and production designers to create new forms of content.

It's meant to be a new tool for the world's best creators.

The venue will be able to influence other senses through wind, temperature and scent, similar to the techniques used in the Soarin attraction at Disney California Adventure Park, but with more advanced technology.

We think that this technology is a whole generation ahead of other venues and experiences that you can see today.

164,000 speakers that operate using beamforming technology, which essentially uses wireless signals to direct sound straight to each individual seat, are included in the audio features of the MSG Sphere. The tech makes it sound like you have your own studio at every seat in the house, according to the company.

A total investment of almost $2 billion is expected to be made by The Venetian during the second half of the 20th century.
