An alleged prototype of the upcoming Pixel 7 phone has been posted on eBay, giving us our first look at the phone in the wild months before its scheduled fall release.
The prototype of the phone that was shown at the I/O event matches up with what the company has shown before. This year the camera bar is made of aluminum and has cutouts for the cameras. The alleged prototype is a deep black color similar to the one shown off at I/O.
There are a few photos of the front, back, and sides of the device in the eBay listing, but you can't see them on the official renders. A photo of the phone that was turned on shows it has more storage than the previous model, which is a sign that the final phone will have more storage than the previous model. The phone's model is GVU6C. One photo shows a reflection of the camera bar on the back of the prototype of the Pixel 7 Pro, which indicates that this eBay seller may have gotten their hands on it as well.
If you want to look at them for yourself, we have collected images from the eBay listing into the gallery below.
The seller claims that they bought the prototype without knowing what it was. The seller says they realized it was a phone after looking at pictures that looked similar to their phone. They had a Pixel 7 Pro, but sold it already.
You won't be able to get this device for your collection because the listing has been closed. The starting bid for the prototype was $450. A request for comment was not immediately replied to.
This is the latest leak of a device called the Pixel 7, which has a history of surprise appearances dating back to the very first phone to carry the name. A prototype of a Pixel Watch was found at a restaurant before the announcement at I/O. A few weeks before the official launch of the device, someone filmed a test unit. I could continue.
We will likely be waiting a few months before we see more about the Pixel 7. The phones are not set to arrive until the fall, so we should expect a launch event in October. The photos from eBay might be our best look at the phone until it inevitably leaks again.
